This time six months ago we were just about finished with the renowned Parisian tradeshow Maison Objet, where we met and collaborated with some of the most interesting interior designers and traders in the industry.
Now, we’re busy preparing for iconic design, inspiring partnerships and…freezing temperatures at the Northern Lights 2016 trade show in Stockholm, Sweden.
With just a week left before we head off to the wintry wilds of Sweden (is there ever an excuse for snow after Christmas?) we thought we’d give you an exclusive preview of what you should expect from the world’s largest Scandinavian design fair.
As Northern Lights is all about the striking, the unusual and the memorable, it’s the perfect venue for us to showcase our own lighting and homeware – all while admiring the other companies unique collections of course.
Bernh. Pedersen & Son are amongst some of the exceptional brands we’ll be surrounding ourselves with this February, who draw their inspiration from the strong Danish craft traditions from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Although new technology and equipment have been integrated into their production, this established company are very much dedicated to authenticity and skill when applying it to their designs. We don’t always get this excited over Cabinets so you know Bernh. Pedersen & Son must be, well…top drawer.
Veering away ever so slightly from the universal craftsmanship of BP&S we give you… Noodles Noodles and Noodles. A daring brand, NN&N draw much of their inspiration from the epic gangster classic ‘Once Upon a Time in America’ and transform this rustic appeal into their very own trademark. Despite their relatively young status, these three friends burst onto the interior design scene with panache, creating brave and imaginative concepts such as their Jailhouse Bed frame. Not ones to disappoint, this particular product actually comes with a complimentary pair of Smith & Wesson handcuffs…we told you they were daring.
Although the Northern Lights Trade Show has a heavy focus on furniture and interior design, you can’t do Scandinavia without including the contemporary Swedish company Designtorget. Encompassing every aspect of homeware, from textiles to games, Designtorget always get it right. Renowned for their impeccable design (the clue is in the name) and exclusive collections from handpicked creatives, you’re not allowed to go home without a souvenir from Sweden’s national treasure…not IKEA. Featured on the official website of Visit Stockholm, this trendsetting store should most definitely be on the top of your ‘fun things to do in Sweden list’ – after visiting us at the Tradeshow, obviously.
If all this is still not enough, there’s still one event which is sure to satisfy all of your interior design cravings – Stockholm Design Week.
With events starting on the 2nd and finishing on the 8th, there’s plenty of time to team up with the entire city of Stockholm and immerse yourself in exhibitions, showrooms and top class design events.
Literally, so many designers, too little time. Though we can’t wait for the design worlds answer to ComicCon, it’s not all work – Sweden itself is renowned for being one of the more attractive countries in Europe, and of course we have some downtime inspiration for anyone who’s lucky enough to be jetting off to this cultural goldmine – so keep an eye out for next week’s blog and we hope to see you at the trade show!
